How to play Zenta Beacon

Zenta Beacon is an endless survival game with one rule: the creatures of the night move only in the dark. You keep the lighthouse at the centre of a small island, and its beam is your only weapon. Whatever the light touches freezes on the spot and slowly burns away, but the beam is narrow and the creatures surface from every side of the sea.

Controls

Drag anywhere (or move the mouse) and the lamp turns toward your finger. It sweeps at a limited speed, so choosing where to look next is the whole game. Keyboard: A / D or the arrow keys turn the lamp, P pauses.

Upgrades

Burned creatures leave embers that fly back to the lantern and fill the glow ring around it. Each full ring lets you pick one of three upgrades for this night: a wider or longer beam, hotter glass, a second lamp facing backwards, sparks that jump between creatures, flares and more. Between nights, spend embers in the keeper's workshop on permanent upgrades, and watch the cottage windows on your island light up as it grows.

Tips

Sweep, don't stare: a creature only advances while it is dark. Every two minutes a horn and a red mark on the rim announce a Hulk that keeps crawling even in the light. Survive three minutes to sail to the next of six islands: fog banks that cut the beam short, moths that rush toward the light, tar ships whose shots you burn in mid-air, lightning, and the Eclipse boss, which only the edge of the beam can burn. Fishermen bring embers while you are away.
